Colleton’s deputy threatened during a fight at school

The life of a local deputy was threatened by a Colleton County student during a recent fight.

According to an incident report filed with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers were called to Colleton County High School on August 26 to a fight between students. When a deputy arrived, he learned that two students (boys) were arguing over a female student. This argument turned into a physical fight that took place inside the school. While trying to separate the two students, one of the teenagers threatened the deputy’s life. This matter is under investigation. If charged, the student faces an offense of threatening to kill a public official.

Weapon found in rental car

A firearm was found in a rental car from Enterprise Rental. According to an incident report from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Enterprise on August 29 when an employee found a Glock Gen firearm inside the car. The gun came back clear, meaning it hadn’t been stolen. The weapon was returned to the owner. No charges have been laid.

Argument leads to cell phone theft

Law enforcement officers were called to a Colleton County home last week when a woman and her boyfriend got into a fight. According to an incident report filed with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the two were arguing about another man messaging the girl on Facebook. This led the couple to argue. The man then allegedly snatched two cell phones from the woman and fled the residence. The woman was unable to chase the boyfriend to retrieve his phones as she wears an ankle monitor and is under house arrest for an unrelated incident, the report said. The woman told authorities she only wanted her phones from the man and would not press any further charges. This was classified as a case of petty larceny.

A cheeky thief steals from a local store

Officers were called to a gas station in Walterboro last week to a reported shoplifter. According to an incident report from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the unknown thief stole a box of Peanut Patch Boiled Peanuts, valued at $3.99. He also took a pair of sunglasses and a cell phone charger. A store employee saw the man put the items in his jacket, as he attempted to steal them. When the man was approached by this store employee, the man paid for a drink and a pack of cigarettes, but left the store with the stolen items anyway. Security camera footage has been reviewed and this matter is being investigated.

Angry ex smashes the windshield

A woman is accused of damaging her ex-boyfriend’s Mercedes. According to an incident report from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers were called to the Hangtime Bar on Rivers Street in Walterboro on August 27. The male victim told authorities the suspect was his ex-girlfriend. The victim said the woman got mad at him for not tipping her as much as he gave the other waitresses. She threw a drink in his face, the report says. The woman then allegedly smashed the windshield of her car. Bar security guards witnessed the incident. This matter is under investigation.
