Samsung finally introduced Expert RAW, a separate mobile app that gave customers additional control over their Galaxy phones’ photo settings, in late 2021. It got off to a shaky start, as with most apps, but the giant of technology has constantly strived to improve this. The Expert RAW app has been warmly welcomed by many mobile photography enthusiasts, despite some difficulties when it first appeared. Many are referring to people who had a Galaxy S21 Ultra, which was – and still is – the only Samsung phone that supports the app.

Getting bug fixes and performance improvements is always good news, regardless of the software. However, Samsung does not stop there. Turns out the update is even juicier than that, as it also adds a new feature called High-Efficiency RAW.
Expert RAW’s first major update (version 1.0.00.16) was back in December and brought big improvements in both image quality and UI design. However, there was still room for improvement. Well-known and trusted leaker IceUniverse has released a new version of the app (version 1.0.00.21) which should fix several annoying bugs, while adding a new feature. Considering how much space a RAW file format can take up and the lack of an SD card slot, a feature like High Efficiency RAW can work wonders. This is a more economical RAW format that will save some of that space on your phone. However, it is still unknown if and to what extent the quality of the images will be degraded.
